G: How are you, Alyssa?

A: I’m doing good
G: Alyssa is a Senior at Eastlake High School and she is here to tell us about what she is going through. What do you think about online classes so far?
A: I’m doing good and so far my online classes are doing pretty good, I like all my teachers so far
G: You are a Senior now so that means that you will eventually graduate and go off to college, have you thought about what you are going to study?
I have been trying to go for the medical pathway because I want to be a pediatrician , so I have been taking a lot of medical classes .
I miss socializing with my friends and also getting the full experience of having my teacher actually teach me in person. Personally I am a more visual person, so specially in Math, my teacher can’t teach me through the computer.
G: What about your friends, how are they coping with everything?
A: They are the same as me, they are missing out on the same things like in- person teaching
G: What is something you would like to share with all the 2021 Class?
A: I hope we all get through this and I hope that everyone keeps pushing through.

GB: Hi, we are here with Arturo. How are you?

A: I’m good, how are you?
GB: I’m fine, thank you. I’m very happy to have you here and I wanna ask you a couple of questions. First of all, how does it feel having online classes right now?
A: I kind of miss going to school to see my friends, teachers, seeing everyone basically. I also don’t like that there are things you can’t do in online school that you can do in school normally. For example, one of my classes requires tools and some equipment. Also, if this keeps going on we won’t have graduation or grad night.
GB: Yes, and it worries us all , but we’re gonna be positive and hopefully we will be able to do that for you guys. Another thing Arturo. I know that you miss your friends, of course, Do you miss being in front of the teacher?
A: Yes, it is easier to focus than online school.
GB: And you’re a senior, you’ll be graduating class of 2021 here at Eastlake High. Is there something you would like to tell your friends. What to look forward to?
A: Let me think. Be hopeful.
GB: Be hopeful, I think that’s the word most people are looking for. That everything will turn out just fine. What are your plans  after high school?
A: Well, I want to go to college for mechanical engineering. I’m interested in math and mechanics.
GB: Have you thought of any colleges?
A: Yeah, I’m getting some ideas of where I might be going.
GB: This is Arturo, a senior who will be graduating class of 2021. Thank you, Arturo.

G: Dime, ¿cómo te has sentido este semestre?

G: I know it’s been tough especially right now, tell us, what has been the hardest thing of this online/ distance learning?
C: I believe that the hardest thing would be to get students to get back in the habit of waking up early, it is a different modality, something they are not used to
G: I understand, that can be very tough. What is something parents can do to get students to pay attention?
C: Well, right now students are not required to have their microphones on. One thing they can do is talk to them. As parents we have two jobs, one online and two, handling our children and to tell them to try
G: What advice would you give to the parents who work from home and have to be there during school hours?
C: As a parent I cannot have my camera on at times because because of the internet. The solution is to be patient during this difficult times

G: And as a teacher, do you offer special tutoring? As teachers we need to have office hours, an hour before class and an hour and a half after class, so if students email me, I always answer their questions. If I see that I have a few emails with the same question, we send a message to all of the class
G: I’m glad we have a teacher saying that we are all in this together. I’m so happy you mentioned you are a mom too
C: It’s going to be challenging, it’s going to be tough but we are all in this together, we have to work as a team. Do not hesitate to email the teachers with questions
G: Thank you for taking the time today to answer our questions!
