NTC Foundation Grants Four Visual Artists Free Studio Space in ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station

SAN DIEGO – NTC Foundation has selected four exceptional visual artists, Gracie Moon, Sean Sarmiento, Helena Westra, and Amanda DiGiovanni, for the prestigious Emerging Artist Program at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. This initiative supports emerging talent by providing free studio space in Barracks 14. Gracie Moon and Sean Sarmiento will lead the way from July to December 2024, followed by Amanda DiGiovanni and Helena Westra from January to June 2025.

These artists, representing diverse backgrounds and artistic disciplines, will have a six-month platform to nurture creativity, connect with fellow artists, and broaden their impact within San Diego’s thriving arts hub. The studio residency offers a unique opportunity for personal growth, professional development, and community engagement.

Lisa Johnson, President and CEO of NTC Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for empowering emerging artists within the dynamic environment of ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. She highlighted the program’s role in fostering innovation and providing a launchpad for future artistic achievements.

Gracie Moon, a Japanese American sculptor and performer, explores themes of cultural identity through multidimensional storytelling.

 Sean Sarmiento, known for challenging visual norms in his photography, aims to redefine traditional perceptions. 

Amanda DiGiovanni, a multimedia artist, delves into profound reflections on human existence. 

Helena Westra, specializing in sculpture and land art, forges connections between nature and self through her work.

These artists will undoubtedly enrich the creative landscape of ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, a 100-acre cultural destination bustling with museums, galleries, studios, dining, and retail offerings. The program signifies NTC Foundation’s commitment to supporting and showcasing emerging talent, contributing to San Diego’s vibrant arts community.
