Silvio Lanzas was born in Nicaragua ,his parents Angelica and Frank Lanzas.
In 1979 Silvio, with his older brother, his father and his mother who was pregnant with his little brother migrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream .
Silvio spent 22 years of his career with CALFIRE in the San Bernardino and Riverside Units. He held all ranks from Firefighter to Assistant Chief in the CALFIRE system.
Fire Chief Silvio Lanzas started his career in the fire service in 1992 as a Fire Explorer.
Silvio has been involved in the Fire Service throughout the State, and within our Community. He also serves as a Board Member for CALCHIEFS as the Southern
Division Director. He is the Region 1, Area C Mutual Aid Coordinator, He is the Foothill Fire
Chief ‘s President and serves on the CSFA LEADS Committee. Chief Lanzas is currently the Los Angeles Area Fire Chief ‘s Association Vice President and was scheduled to become their President next year.
People love the man because of his work ethic and incredible community involvement.
Chief Lanzas serves as a Board Member for the Dignity Health, Glendale Memorial Hospital and their grants committee. He is a Board Member of the Glendale YMCA and serves on their finance committee, he is a board member of the Glendale Latino Association advisory board and just a couple of weeks ago was recognized as the GLA Man of the Year. Silvio was a member of the Glendale Rotary. Silvio is a volunteer Chef at the Ascencia Homeless shelter. He is a board member of the Glendale Community College, Latino Advisory Board. Chief Lanzas lead the City ‘s COVID-19 response.
As the Fire Chief he has made many significant and impactful changes and improvements to the department.
Silvio has been married to his wife Kara for 23 years, they have two boys, Isaiah (23) who is
an Engineer with CALFIRE and Jakob (12).
