Beyond dentistry, DR. Norma Ramirez

“I grew up in spring valley, my grandparents when they first came from Mexico they came to
Chula Vista. My parents have had their dates here, my first baptism dress was bought here in
downtown Chula Vista, so there’s a lot of history in the family in Chula Vista. Once I decided to
be a dentist I always wanted to start my practice here in this cute little part of Chula Vista. It’s
something I always wanted to do, to give back to the latino community where my grandparents
came and where I grew up. I opened up a practice, not far away for 17 years. At the 10 year
mark I always knew that I needed to expand from day 1, so I was looking at properties and I
found this to be able to treat my patients, since my patient base has gotten so big. It’s all word to
mouth . Families refer to other families that grew up in this area. Pía, my front office person, has
always been with me. She was my patient, she became my front office and office manager since
day one. Lewis, my assistant, is also my brother. It’s so nice to bring the family type environment
to my patients. I think it’s really important being in the industry and being in healthcare to make
patients feel like family and that’s how I treat everyone, a family member. My other assistant is a
student. I give back to the community. I educate students when they need some education and
want to learn about dentistry. A lot of the schools bring their students here and I’ll train them and
get them ready for the real world. It’s always been my passion to be here in Chula Vista and get
back and be part of this community. That was my passion, that was my dream and here it is to
share with all of you.
